residency in Gonies, Malevizi Crete GR

The residency program in Gonies is part of the archaeological ethnographic research project "The Three Peak Sanctuaries of Central Crete".
The aim of this pilot project was to create an ethnographic situation, where knowledge, memories and skills emerge through the agency of the residents team (Alexia Karavela -  Katerina Konstantinou) and the on-going production of the artwork.
We assembled two dismantled looms offered by Goniotes with the aid of elderly weavers. The studio was set up in the now abandoned primary school and locals were invited to participate in creating a collective woven textile.
